This past Tuesday, Models International's Executive Director, Catherine Fellows was invited to speak to students at New York University. The students were eager to listen to Cat's advice on the industry!

NYU Modeling Club and NYU Fashion Business Association presented: Catherine Fellows Executive Director of Models International

Catherine Fellows was owner of Über Models, a development and placement agency located in New Orleans, LA, from 2002-2005. In 2005, she moved to Los Angeles and sold Uber to Warning Management Services, Inc. (Warning Models), one of the few publicly traded modeling agencies in the world. In 2007 Fellows left Warning to form i models with her partner, William S. Whitfield. Fellows left Los Angeles in 2008 to expand i models into the competitive New York fashion market. In 2009, I Models was acquired by Hollywood Studios International (H.S.I.) and the agency was renamed Models International (M.I.). In the 8+ years that Fellows has worked in the industry, she has represented several high profile models including Rachel Reynolds: The Price is Right, Justine Pasek: Miss Universe, Bryant Brown: Ralph Lauren, Joanie Dodds, Monique Calhoun, Jade Cole and Eva Pigford: America's Next Top Model, Alicia Hall: Sports Illustrated Model of the Year, Anya Monzikova: Deal or No Deal and Kim Smith. "Hello World of Models family, I´m Kyle Pinsonneault, 23 years old, Canadian Model living in NYC, modeling for Models International. I am just a regular guy my age that likes to just hangout in free time. Although I am a little bit unique, I am a national champion swimmer. I have qualified for the 2012 Olympic trials for a chance to swim for Team Canada. I am from a small city called Chatham and that is in Ontario, Canada. My personal interests are the obvious modeling and swimming but I also like to have a chance to hangout with my friends and fraternity brothers. I am apart of a fraternity called Sigma Phi Epsilon. I join this fraternity when I was in college at the Illinois Institute of Technology. i decided to tryout modeling about 3 years ago in Chicago. I was asked by a friend to do a shoot with her and the photographer said I was a natural behind the camera and so I decided to look more into it. I did my fist test shoot in Chicago with a photographer that I found on Model Mayhem. Since then I have done many many many test shoots and have built a very strong portfolio. At the show, we scouted our latest addition to our men's board- meet our promising, fresh face model, Scott.

Models International Just Filmed For The New Show MTV "Hired" That Will Air In April.

The MTV series that tags along as recent college grads go on the big job interview. Each episode will feature job seekers vying for a different position in a variety of unique industries. Viewers follow along as these young applicants navigate their way through the interview process, leading up to the climactic conclusion where one person will be hired and the rest will be forced to dust off their resume and try again.

The candidate we selected was Robert Cunard and we are thrilled to add him to the MI Family.

We would also like to thank MTV and The Hired crew for filming with us and can't wait to see the final product.

Sierra in Gary Harvey's aptly named Military Dress, made from 28 recycled army jackets. Gary Harvey's collection is a striking and pioneering move in the ethical fashion world.

Snow was stunning in the Daniel Vosovic 2010 NYFW Presentation.

Snow in Boudoir D'huitres. Ebony, cream and crimson made up the palette for Mimi Plange, designer of Boudoir D’huitres, Fall 2010 collection. The models did a fierce catwalk with powdered hairdos.

Recently I sat down with Models Internationals newest men's board catch Walter Derrig. While he we are his mother agency, Major New York is agency. At 18, and a body of a young God Walter is the hottest thing Fort Lee, New Jersey has seen in years; and if he runs the industry like he runs track Walter is definitely a shoe in for first place. Below is my one on one interview with this down to earth adventurous athletic mans man.

The Model Diaries (MD): Walter let's get right to it. Boxers or Boxer Briefs?

Walter Derrig (WD): Hahahahaha

MD: If you weren't modeling what would you be doing?

WD: I had planned on joining the United States Marines after high school.

MD: Speaking of high school you're the captain of your track team correct?

WD: Yes. I run the 400 meter hurdles, javelin and disk.

MD: When you're chilling or grinding it out on the subway going to castings what type of music are you listening to on your iPhone?

WD: It varies from Tech-no to Hip-Hop it just depends on how I'm feeling at that moment. Sometimes I'll just flip from song to song, and mix it all up.

MD: All of our female interns wanted me to ask you this next question.

WD: Oh no what is it?

MD: Are you dating or single?

WD: Single!

MD: I'm sure that's by choice. So describe your ideal girl. Is she a blond or brunette? Or is she a fiery red head? Inquiring minds would like to know.

WD: To be truthful hair color, and all of that doesn't really matter to me. I like a girl that's adventurous, and likes to go go-carting.

MD: So she has to be able to keep up with you at all times?

WD: You said that not me (laughs)

MD: I'll leave the follow up question for next time.

WD: Thanks! hahahaha

MD: If you had the opportunity to become the face for one fashion house out of all of the designers that are currently relevant at this moment who would you choose?

WD: Easy Prada!

MD: Wow that was quick. Why Prada?

WD: Prada is very modern, and the lines are clean. I like it because its not over the top with logos everywhere. Its minimalistic, and I like that. I can do the talking for myself, I don't need my clothes to do the talking for me.

MD: So what do you like about modeling?

WD: Everything! (laughs) From the photo shoots to the runway to meeting different types of people. It's a fast paced and fun job.

MD: Have you ever traveled out of the country?

WD: Yea I've been to Ireland and England with my family, but it was when I was younger like 5 or 6 years old.

MD: So if I gave you $500.00 to go shopping anywhere where would you go splurge?

WD: Oh man that's easy H&M! Because I could get the a lot of stuff, and still have money left over! (laughs)

MD: So no Prada?

WD: With just $500.00? Definitely no Prada (laughs again)

MD: So you've been modeling for a decent amount of time. What is your most embarrassing moment?

WD: That's hard, but I would have to say the first time I met with Ryan (Ryan Colby the Director of Models Internationals Men's board) and he's taking digitals of me in my boxer briefs when all of a sudden all of these female models walk in, and 2+2= 4 (laughs)

This past weekend Models International held a networking photo shoot where press, clients, and media were invited to come view the models while they shoot their show cards for New York Fashion Week at Collective Hardware in New York City. We flew famed photographer Kenny Sweeny from Los Angeles for this eventful shoot. Jamal Hodges was the lead hair stylists for over 35 models, and make-up artist Chico Mitsui ensured each model glowed in front of the camera. Stylists Brooke Auston, and Reginald Elliott styled each model for the shoot paying close attention to detail to ensure every shot was Fashion Week ready!

In lieu of the upcoming Nolcha fashion week in February Scallywag and Vagabond headed out this past Thursday to make sense of the chic revelry been experienced by the guys and gals over at Models International and of course the man behind Nolcha – Arthur Mandel.

As usual we came across the very much adored JohnThompson of Models International whom we are always very fond of and his cohort partying up. That said charmed, and acquiescing to John’s demand’s to drink (and we did, or at least I did…) I couldn’t help but notice the wide turn out and the occasional model sashaying past as one after the other they came, danced, greeted Johnny and ignored me…Oh well, from there it was a catch up session with Arthur Mandel who assures me the upcoming collections are going to be a knock out and that even now putting it together has been a consumed labor of love.

As guests continued to stroll in and take in the wonderful vista of the Empire Hotel penthouse sweep view I couldn’t help but think that the Nolcha collections are once again going to be a charmer and no doubt some new talent will be discovered and maybe if I turn up to the collections maybe just maybe one of the models might notice me. (I assume Arthur will offer me front row thank you very much!) But if they don’t I still might end up living somehow. Thanks for the all the fun and drinks- Johnny and Arthur!!

Models International Presents "Gifts for Gorgeous" a charity benefit for Toys for Tots

Models International hosted its "Gifts for Gorgeous" charity benefit for Toys for Tots this past Thursday December 3rd 2009 at Collective Hardware in New York. The event which partnered Models International, and Toys for Tots together for the first time was a huge success. The agency collected 165 toys that will be donated to underprivileged children this holiday season via the United States Marine Coprs Toys for Tots charity program.

Guests were also interviewed in front of the step & repeat by New York City PR, and both Susie Iliyan and Zach Wright of The Miche Group. The De Miche Group will also feature footage from the event via their online men's life style magazine The Smugger(http://www.thesmugger.com/) January 2010.

Models were outfitted in exceptionally stunning cocktail dresses by upcoming designer Miamesthys. Make up was provided by Elsa Zamora, and hair by Annunciata Cornelius of Gi-Amor's salon spa. The very vibrant up-tempo music that guest enjoyed throughout the evening was provided by STADJ a creative DJ company that trains models to DJ at various events.

Catherine Fellows, managing partner and Executive Director of Models International NY stated, "we are overwhelmed with the fashion communities' support on Thursday night at the Toys for Tots benefit. The number of gifts donated will put a smile on many more little faces this holiday season. I hope that we have set an example for other organizations in fashion to become activists in making the world a better place."

In every litter there is a runt, and nature usually has a way of doing away with the runt. The old adage of survival of the fittest is remarkably true. At 5'7" Sophie Hirschfelder is a runt by model industry standards (a la Kate Moss), but to every rule there is an exception. Sophie is that exception. With a facial features that command attention, and a body that most girls in this industry would die for Sophie is not only the exception to the rule she is the underdog that won that no one saw coming.

Photographer Seiichi Niitsuma saw in Sophie what she already saw in herself. In a spec for an Japanese magazine Seiichi decided to photograph her versatility as opposed to isolating her beauty. Often times models become so complacent, and dependent on their beauty that they fail to develop their other layers thus becoming one dimensional. While Sophie is breathtakingly gorgeous she moved beyond that beauty, and dove deep within herself to produce the edgy Goth inspired photographs that are a product of Seiichi's creative vision. Being 5'7" in the model industry the odds are clearly stacked against her; however Sophie is both determined and focused, and this Aussie would have it no other way.

While her height is looked at by most as a handicap Sophie has made one thing profoundly clear, and that is that this runt is here to stay!

After working in the model industry for an extended period of time I have become accustom to meeting beautiful girls who are hollow on the inside. They lack an opinion, personality and are nothing more than a shell. They have failed to develop any type of personality worth mentioning, but every now and then if you're lucky you meet an anomaly. Lykke Jeppesen is that anomaly.

Lykke is a native to Denmark, and is signed with Models International New York where she currently lives. While most girls are frolicking around, and skipping castings or jobs because they are for trade and not pay Lykke is in trenches slowly but surely building a name for herself. She has the ability to make the most beautiful girl look average just by standing next to her. From commercial to editorial Lykke is a chameleon by nature, and has no one set look as she is a master of them all. With an outgoing attitude, and a drive that most girls in this industry lack it is clear that Lykke is headed in one direction, and that is straight to the top!
